  1. Liaise and work with Partners to understand their hiring needs
  2. Liaise with recruitment agents / preferred advertising forums and manage the interview process, including arranging and attending interviews when required
  3. Prepare/update all Shanghai job descriptions in the firm standard format
  4. Prepare offer letters and manage the offer process
  5. Manage external relationship with CIIC

New Employee Integration:

  1. Assist with the preparation of expat employment visa applications and submission of same with the relevant authorities including work permit renewals
  2. Assist expats with the MOJ registration process and their representative certificate applications
  3. Manage the onboarding and induction process of new employees with functional counterparts in Asia Head Office

HR General:

  1. Oversees the operation of HR initiatives (e.g. Performance Management, Career Development, Health and Safety, Compensation and Benefits, Workforce Planning and Employee Relations) and formulate plans to ensure effective implementation that are aligned with business needs
  2. Ensure protocol is followed for all terminated employees and manage the exit process
  3. Manage direct report workloads and leave cover
  4. Ad hoc projects as they arise
  1. Ensure existing HR policies and practices are compliant with local regulations, conform to industry best practices and where appropriate, align with Harney's best practice
  2. Ensure company HR policies and procedures are compliant with local regulations, and in line with industry best practices
  3. Liaise with Finance Team on payroll and other related details


  1. Manage the annual inspection process and lodgement of same with MOJ
  2. Manage and provide general support to visitors by managing the 'out of town visitor process' (hotels, china visa applications, workstation set up etc.)
  3. Monitor and maintain the inventory of office supplies
  4. Responsible for ensuring all office equipment and facilities, including copiers, printers, internet, telephone, etc. are running in a good working order and contact vendors, or functional support in HK when required
  5. Liaise with building management on any relevant office issues
  6. Participate actively in the planning and execution of firm events (internal and external) as required
  7. Ensure staff benefits - breakfast, juice and fruit days are managed efficiently
  8. Mentor and supervise junior HR and office staff ensuring smooth running of those functions
  9. Ad hoc projects as they arise


  1. University degree holder with at least 8 years relevant work experience in HR in China
  2. Hands on knowledge of work visa and registration process with the MOJ and labour bureau for expatriates
  3. Proven experience in a similar role for a MNC in China with sound knowledge of local labour laws
  4. Previous work experience in a law firm is an advantage
  5. Excellent communication skills with the ability to foster a collaborative working environment
  6. A good team player who can foster partnerships across functions, business units and external partners through establishing trusting and reputable relationships
  7. Must be self-motivated with an ability to multi-task and have a positive attitude
  8. Excellent written and spoken English and Mandarin skills
  9. Good command of MS office tools including PowerPoint, Excel, Word and Chinese Word Processing
